In the 2018 city rankings by consulting firm Mercer, Munich ranked third among 231 major cities worldwide in terms of quality of life. Munich is internationally known for its collections of ancient and classical art, which are presented in state, municipal and private museums such as galleries. Munich has a very rich theater, ballet and opera culture with five state, three municipal and over fifty private theaters. Internationally known cultural events include the Oktoberfest, Opera Festival, the Dance Workshop Europe and the Film Festival.
